Individual Resident Producer Requirements

To qualify for a resident Nebraska state insurance producer license, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Be competent, trustworthy, financially responsible and have a good personal and business reputation

Frequency: One-time training must be complete prior to selling annuity products. *Non-Residents who satisfy the requirements of another state that are similar to the Nebraska law will be deemed compliant for the Nebraska requirement.

  • Exam Proctor Requirements:PreLicense.com final exams must be monitored by a disinterested third party. Proctors must not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; partners, joint ventures, co-owners, or business associates; or for anyone in whom the proctor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.

PreLicense.com provides online, printable certificates of completion in Nebraska. An applicant must meet Nebraska’s PLE requirements before a certificate of completion is issued. Applicants will be required to submit their certificate of completion to the Nebraska Department of Insurance with the license application.

You must submit all application materials and fees to the Department within one year of completing your prelicensure course and passing your exam. Issuance of a license depends on review and approval of all license application materials.
  1. Prelicense Education: Applicants are required to pass an approved prelicensing course in order to obtain a license.
  2. Schedule your exam: Go to www.prometric.com to register or call Prometric at 1-800-853-4753.
  3. Exam Format: Bring signed identification
    • Government-issued (e.g., driver’s license, state-issued or military id card)
    • Contain both a current photo and your signature
    • The passing score required on each exam is 70%.
    • Prometric notifies the Department of Insurance your exam results within 2 business days.
  4. Apply for your Nebraska license: You must apply and be issued a Nebraska insurance license in order to sell, solicit, or negotiate insurance in the state of Nebraska. If an exam was required, allow 2-3 days for Prometric to provide the exam results and the Prelicensing Provider is allowed 10 days to submit your PLE course credit to the Nebraska Insurance Department electronically, prior to applying.
