Course Exam Requirements

Passing Score: Applicants must pass the PLE final exam with a 70% or higher to receive a certificate of completion.

Exam Proctor Requirements: PreLicense.com final exams must be monitored by a disinterested third party. Proctors must not serve for examinations of family members, relatives, or dependents; employers or supervisors; employees or subordinates; partners, joint ventures, co-owners, or business associates; or for anyone in whom the proctor or instructor has an economic or other interest in assuring the successful outcome of the examination.

Reporting and Mississippi PreLicense Exam Prep Certificates of Completion

Certificate of Completion

PreLicense.com provides online, printable certificates of completion in Mississippi. An applicant must meet Mississippi’s PLE requirements before a certificate of completion is issued. Certificates are valid for two years from date of completion.

State Reporting Requirements

PreLicense.com reports PLE course completions electronically to Sircon daily. The Mississippi Insurance Department charges a $4.75 per name state roster fee for course completion reports. This state-mandated fee is included in the course price.

  2. Complete Prelicense Education: Resident applicants must complete 20 hours of prelicensing education and pass an examination for each line of authority requested.

  3. Make Exam reservation: To make exam reservations please visit www.pearsonvue.com .

  4. Exam Format
    • Bring current signature identification: Social Security Card Primary ID : Current driver’s license, passport, military Secondary ID: (1099, W2, tax return)
    • Each major line exam is given in a multiple-choice format.
    • Applicants must pass the Life, Accident and Health state licensing exams with a 65% or higher to file a license application.
    • Applicants must pass the Property and Casualty state licensing exams with a 70% or higher to file a license application.

  5. Fingerprinting Process:The Mississippi Insurance Department does not require fingerprints.

Transfer Producer Requirements

New residents will not be required to complete Prelicense education or take the license examination as long as:
  • A letter of clearance is submitted from previous home state (unless license status can be verified on the National Producer Database)
  • Must submit an application to the Department within 90 days of clearing their resident license from the previous home state.

    Non-Resident Mississippi PreLicense Exam Prep Requirements

    Non-Resident License Requirements

    Nonresident license candidates may obtain a Mississippi producer license, without having to complete the Prelicense education requirement or take a license examination, as long as they are currently licensed as a resident in their home state and in compliance with continuing education requirements in their home state.
