North Dakota PreLicensing Requirements
Individual Resident Producer Requirements
To qualify for a resident North Dakota insurance producer license, the applicant must satisfy the following requirements:

State Reporting Requirements
The North Dakota Insurance Department does not require PLE course completions to be reported.
License Application Process:
1. Register for State exam: register for your examinations online by accessing PSI’s registration Web site at www.psiexams.com or by calling PSI at (800) 733-9267.

2. Fingerprinting Process
PSI’s North Dakota test centers provide LiveScan fingerprinting services. PSI collects your fingerprints digitally using an optical scanner. You may be fingerprinted at one of PSI test centers, during regular testing hours, on the day of your examination. Upon completion of the fingerprinting, PSI will mail the signed consent form, fingerprint card, and BCI payment ($42.75) directly to the North Dakota Insurance Department.
3.Apply for your License: To apply for a North Dakota resident insurance producer license, complete the NAIC Uniform Application form electronically at www.nipr.com. The fee is $100.
New Resident Producer Requirements
If you are moving to North Dakota and wish to qualify for a North Dakota license without taking an examination, you must have held the same or a similar insurance license in your previous state in the last 90 days.
An applicant for a North Dakota resident license cannot hold an active resident license in another state. If you hold an active non-resident license in North Dakota, a paper application should be submitted and no fee is required.

Non-residents may apply by reciprocity and are exempt from the examination requirement if the following requirements are met:

State-Required Product Training
Your state has special training requirements in order for licensed agents to sell the following products:
Long-Term Care: Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating LTC insurance products in North Dakota, producers must complete an initial 8-hour, state-approved LTC training course.
Annuity Training: All producers currently licensed to sell, solicit, and negotiate annuity products must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating such products.
